Below is a list of Baseball Abbreviations

Pitching Stats

  • G - Games Played
  • GS - Games Started
  • IN - Innings Pitched
  • PIT - Number Of Pitches Thrown
  • K - Strikeouts Induced
  • BB - Base on Balls Allowed
  • IBB - Intentional Base on Balls Allowed
  • H - Hits Allowed
  • D - Doubles Allowed
  • T - Triples Allowed
  • HR - Homeruns Allowed
  • R - Runs Allowed
  • RS - Runners Stranded
  • DP - Double Plays Induced
  • DPO - Double Play Opportunities (likely opportunities to hit into a double play, ie runner of first and less than 2 outs)
  • W - Wins
  • L - Losses
  • S - Saves
  • BS - Blown Saves
  • HLD - Hold
  • QS - Quality Starts (Starting pitcher allows less than 4 runs and pitches for at least 6 innings.)
  • SUP - Run Support Per 9 Innings
  • ERA - Earned Run Average
  • AVG - Batting Average Against
  • OBP - On Base Percentage Against
  • SLG - Slugging Percentage Against
  • WP - or Walk Percentage is the percent of plate appearances resulting in a walk **
  • KP - or Strikeout Percentage is the percent of plate appearances resulting in a strikeout **
  • HRP - or Home Run Percentage is the percent of plate appearances resulting in a home run **
  • SBP - or Stolen Base success Percentage is the percent of steal attempts that are successful **
  • wOBA - or Weighted On Base Average is a measure of the total run value of nearly all player stats within the league's context
  • wRAA - or Weighted Runs Above Average is based on wOBA and is a measure of the total number of runs the player produced relative to the average player in the league (positive values are good, negative bad)
  • ER - earned run allowed
  • W% - percentage of a pitcher's decisions that are wins (wins / (wins+losses)).
  • S% - percentage of a pitcher's save opportunities that are successfully converted.
  • G/F = Ratio of ground balls to fly balls
  • WO - Win opportunities
  • RV - run value relative to that of an average pitcher facing average hitters
  • IR - Inherited runners allowed to score
  • IRS - Inherited runners stranded
  • IR% - Percent of inherited runners stranded
  • DP% - Percent of double play opportunities successfully converted (percent of times there is a runner on first with less than 2 outs that turns into a double play)

Batting Stats

  • G - Games Played
  • AB - At Bats
  • K - Strikeouts
  • BB - Base on Balls
  • IBB - Intentional Base on Balls
  • H - Hits
  • D - Doubles
  • T - Triples
  • HR - Homeruns
  • R - Runs Scored
  • RBI - Runs Batted In
  • LOB - Runners Left On Base
  • SB - Stolen Bases (stolen bases not yet in sim)
  • CS - Caught Stealing
  • BRO - Base Running Outs
  • DP - Double Plays Hit Into
  • DPO - Double Play Opportunities (likely opportunities to hit into a double play, ie runner of first and less than 2 outs)

  • OPS - On Base + Slugging Percentage
  • SVP - or Save Percentage is the percent of save attempts that are successful **
  • FB/GB - the fly ball, ground ball ratio (the inverse of GB/FB) **
  • GB/FB - the fly ball, ground ball ratio (the inverse of FB/GB)**

Fielding Stats

  • PO - Number of put outs
  • A - Number of assists
  • ERR - Number of errors committed
  • FERR - Number of fielding errors committed
  • TERR - Number of throwing errors committed (not currently used)
  • CERR - Number of catching errors committed (not currently used)
  • FP - Fielding percentage
  • CI - Catcher interference
  • PB - Passed balls
  • BZ - Number of balls hit to player's zone
  • BZO - Numbers of balls hit ot player's zone that turned into outs
  • BZ% - Percentage of balls hit to a player's zone that turned into outs
  • DPT - Double plays turned
  • DPO - Number of opportunities to begin turning a double play
  • DPI - Number of opportunities to begin turning a double play successfully converted
  • STA - Number of runners allowed to steal
  • CS - Number of runners caught stealing

** The ideas for the stats are common, the abbreviations may be unique to Brushback Baseball.
